Question How does impulse employ its pilots ?

Since the Qantas ownership issue . Who employs the pilots and what are the requirements. Is their a direct entry system?
Are the 717 positions awarded on a seniority based system ? (Do all impulse drivers start on the 1900 ?)

CHEERS
thanks in advanced.
PS what are the main bases for impulse pilots ?
What are the min requirements.?

Impulse still do their own recruiting, just like Easterns etc. There hasn't been any direct entry 717 pilots since about May. All jet positions are now on seniority from the 1900. The main bases are 1900: Brisbane, Sydney and Newcastle; 717: Sydney and Melbourne. Min requirements just the same as everywhere else, 500 multi etc.

I think this topic has come up before, try a search.

Hope this helps.

Apparently VQ have been asking their B1900D drivers for interest in upgrading to the 717. Sources are saying they need an extra 25 717 drivers by mid-end 2002. More reason to believe that 6 more 717s are due.

Adelaide man,

I don't think Impulse need ask thier 1900 drivers if they are "interested" in upgrading. I'd give you a million bucks for every one of them that would rather stay on the KingAir-stretch.

Do the 1900 drivers have to pay for a 717 endorsement?

I think they may be bonded for 115 years at 25K. I'll take that mill.
