G'day all,
I too will be heading to KU early next year, my question to those of you who have been there-done that is: How hard is it to get work around town before you crack a flying job( especially in the early months of the year)?
Thanks guys, appreciate the good info on here so far.

Initially its a little difficult, but about mid feb/early march things slowly start to pick up at the hotels and clubs so you can get some work. One of the best jobs to go for is shelf packing at Coles....good money for little work. Not that Im advocating being slack As you'll find out a few places have 'issues' about employing pilots, but most of them get over it when they really need employees and the alternative is back packers who might only stay for a few weeks. Places to try for work include, fruit picking, country club hotel, lakeside resort, mercure inn, coles, tuckerbox supermarket (dont like pilots much) oh yeah and of course Alligator and Slingair...and golden chook now?? (Golden eagle, main base in Port Headland) Good luck, its a great scene up there.
