You have a nice day to!
I just happen to have a great deal of experience when it comes to the Qantas selection process.
If you don't like peoples honest comments about the selection process ring Qantas and ask them to explain.

You may be very keen and pushing hard, I wish you well!
I am about to reapply myself, although I think timing wise we are probably at the wrong end of the economic cycle.

My comment about the wisdom or otherwise of the selection process is unfortunatly correct.

Like I said topday, take it elsewhere.

If you do have so much experience with the QF selection process, then why not add some 'constructive' comments, rather than telling the world how injust and unfair it is that you have not been given a job.

Oh, and making cheap shot ("From what I here (sp) I doubt it") comments about the professional abilities of people you are obviously so keen to work with is a bit of a worry. But good luck anyway.

Wrong end of the economic cycle Topday?

QF still don't have enough Captains and F/Os across the board. Second officer numbers are pretty tight too and the promotions required mean about 100 or so people between now and the end of the year.

Thats this weeks five year plan anyway!

I received a letter from QF that my application has been submitted to the pilot recruitment panel for review. Just wondering if anyone could tell me exactly what this means. The introduction letter they send gives a vague description of what it means, but it doesn't tell you how well you have done over all i.e. did you just miss out and keep your hopes up or you did quite badly and you might miss out totally?

Aside from the couple of people who have offered the info, no one has passed anything on about Ansett, Kendall, Eastern, Skywest, National jet, ********, Pelair, Skippers etc. A lot of people are doing interviews, think about how it could help you/ your family.

"I now consider myself indebtted to each of you personally".

I will refrain from commenting on the strengths or weaknesses of his Marlon Brando accent.

"I have put together a small English comprehension EXERCISE for you".

"Comprehension" is not a noun, dear boy. However, Comp Stall would be able to describe it better than I.

i am sorry to ask this, but I will. Having just looked at the list of questions, of which most seem compltely stupid, plus the information about the phyc tests etc, I just have to ask, Did the domestic Heros go through all this as well? Or because you are a hero, you dont have to be belittled in front of a group of fellow pilots. Are Heros not expected to answer the most stupid questions ever devised by man, but still can be trusted to command a QF aircraft. It really makes me wonder about 2 things;; why as a pilot group we put ourselves through this insane system, and 2, how do those that demand this system actually sleep at night?

I am so glad I an not part of it, good luck to you all that are

Unhappy

Well Gaunty, last time we had a beer together in Freo you said "you are the sort of guy that would walk straight into Qantas!"

I am currently at the review panel stage, lost somewhere in a mountain of QF Admin

If I get to make coffee and do Jepp ammendments while catching the Big White Party Bus around the world for $90k+ per annum then where do I sign???

Elk

And I'd say it again.

Keep the faith my son.

And if QF aren't clever enought to see that then there are millions of others out there.

Listen my son!
Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour,
That's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned,
A sun that is the source of all our power.
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour,
Of the galaxy we call the 'Milky Way'.

Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars.
It's a hundred thousand light years side to side.
It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick,
But out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide.
We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point.
We go 'round every two hundred million years,
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.

The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
'Cause there's ****** all down here on Earth.
With grateful thanks to Monty and the boys,

Feel the force mate.

Geez g, you sure do know how to make a bloke feel inadequate!

Or should that be, insignificant?

Now if we could just work out the best way of answering "that" question from she who must be obeyed.... "Do you think this .... makes my ..... look big?"

Hmmmm, if only we could answer her on a trully "interstellar" level.

G'Day

Just wonder since this thread was started back in 2001, and things may have changed with the recruiting process now at Qantas, are there any generous feeling people out there who could share some more recent information with us on how they found the whole recuiting process and give some tips.
Us would-be's, would be very gratefull.

Thanks
