Aus Air
Island Airlines Pty Ltd (not to be confused with Island Airlines of Tasmania)
Airlines of Tasmania
Peninsula Airlines (a few years back now)
Promair (1994)
Par Avion???
Flinders Island Airlines (a long way back)
Munro Aviation (even further back)
Would you like a guess of who's going to cease flying in the future?

There was a good thread on this a few months ago, had a big list of all regionals that had either gone bust, or been bought out by QF/AN. Was very interesting, the only two wholly owned regional airlines still here today who were floating about 15 or 20 (can't remember, don't quote me) years ago was Airnorth and O'Connors.

"Ahhhhhh glass hopper, you have glasped the concept of of one hand counting, when you achieve zen (zero), Buddhahood is yours, and enlightenment of Casa is realised; all demon airlines vanquished forever, as they are impermanant and figments of peoples imagination. Go forth and acheive zen."

FL CH,
Not bad work, a sobering reminder of the "there, but for the grace of god" principle for all of us.
I must ask though, where are the Compasses (I and II)?
Out of curiosity, did you do the list from memory, or a reference?

I did not include Compass 1, Compass 2(Southern Cross), Ipec and Australian because He/She Lobstar didn't ask for the obvious. We could add Ansett to the list and the following airlines still have a ? about their future;
Hazelton
Airnorth
Kendell
Flight West
Sunshine Express
Skywest
Huntsman, yes Kakadu Bob is still flying but as a charter company, the topic of the thread is "Vanishing airlines???". Kakadu (the airline) ceased operations on the 11/98 and only operated one route for 5 months (Darwin-Jabiru)
The original Chartair was folded into Skyport in the early 90's. Chartair at the end of the 80's was operating Shorts 330 VH-HUS, C402C VH-HUR, RMI, TFM and TZH.

Both chartair and Kak air no longer operate RPT services, therefore are not considered airlines but now are charter operators. There are may others on the list that still trade, some under different names, but they do not do RPT, therefore don't score as airlines.
FLCH a long list. I am curious about how many have started in the same period, more or less than those that have folded, or stopped doing RPT.
High capasity AOC holders that no longer operate, that would be a growing list which outnumbers the newcomers??.
I think the stats, are showing a trend in this area.
Deregulation did not work in the way that it was implemented, the facs are starting to show this is true. Not to mention the inappropriate use of CASA resorces to close down some companies at the other end of the RPT scale.
Good luck those that are left. I do belive that you can take the sunnies off now, as the future does not look so bright.
