Going up north

Hey all. I was wondering if anyone could share some knowledge with me about making the pilgramage up north. I have CPL, ATPL theory, a CIR which is about to lapse end of this month, and a lapsed FIR G3. I have just shy of 400 hours, current ASIC and medical. I've procrastinated going up north for so long but now I just wanna get out there and start flying again. I need some guidance on various aspects such as:
*when's the best time to go
*where's the best places to go
*where am I most likely to get that first job
*what routes to take driving there and what routes to avoid (driving a corolla)
*how to do this all with limited money
*any other advice

I'm currently doing my homework on the matter and would appreciate any advice or comments you guys/girls have

Suggest using the search function first. From what i hear, time to be up north is around 10-11 months from now
