That's quite a jump in fees! Any reason for that to be so ? Maybe trying to claw back the Twitter loss by cross-pollination ;-)

Until Tesla 3 became available in real life, the quoted price on their website was quite attractive too.
I wouldn't really call it bait and switch on the jump in price, just reality adjustment when they work out the actual costs such as shipping, distribution, billing, support etc. If the take up is not spectacular, there will be specials on offer as the satellites are up there already, sitting idle, and not bringing in revenue. Wait a few weeks and see.
Does Starlink UK have outright purchase plans where you buy the hardware and just pay for usage or get a fixed monthly allowance? My friend in outback Australia took advantage of a recent half price offer and put the entire assembly together and had it running in twenty minutes, most of which was spent searching for the activation code in his emails. He is chuffed, as his mobile phone also can take advantage of WiFi calling to provide coverage which was previously extremely spotty from a phone tower about ten miles away. Cost? AU$499 on-off for the dish and associated equipment, and a monthly fee of AU$99. How does this compare with the cost of Starlink in other places such as war torn Ukraine, etc?

For interest: Just saw an ad for Starlink Australia for rural customers for special offer of AU$199, down from AU$924. Maybe the competition is heating up, or they need more cash flow?

Starlink Mini released for mobile users. Says in the USA, but should follow elsewhere quite rapidly.

Connect to high-speed, low-latency internet in ~2 minutes

Max speeds over 100 Mbps for as low as $50 per month

Starlink Mini is now available for roaming across the United States →

My son sometimes trades at outdoor events, often in fairly remote locations. It’s by no means unusual for him to find a problem obtaining a reliable internet or phone connection, which means cash only on the day, which has often lost him some sales.

At a recent event he was approached by a chap (an ex BT engineer) who has just set up a business offering a Wi-Fi link for the event, using Starlink. I think it cost £20 for the day, which my son thought was well worthwhile. The engineer had set up a series of two pronged antennas on twenty foot high poles, each with a control box/ receiver, surrounding the event. All that was needed was to find the network and use the given passsword. He later told my son that he intends to expand his business by selling directly to event organisers, so that they can include the cost in the price of a ticket to traders.

We think it’s a brilliant idea.

.but not without risk. From Starlink's terms and conditions:

You may not resell access to the Services to others as a stand-alone, integrated or value-added service under this Agreement (whether acting as an agent, introducer or in any other capacity), unless authorized by Starlink. In addition, you may not purchase an excessive number of any item available for purchase in the Starlink shop (“Accessories”), as determined by Starlink in its sole discretion. See additional limitations in Section 10 of this Agreement. A violation of this Section may result in Service termination.
Of course he may have Starlink’s approval.

Elon Musk: For large commercial or community users, the Starlink Gateway terminal provides over 8Gbps of downlink and soon over 8Gbps uplink too.

Speedtest from @starlink’s new mobile community gateway capability, no land in sight.

I have no reason to think otherwise.

Starlinks not fast enough to compete with fibre if you have that but for remote locations it is the best solution
