Pprune posts. Lost capability to highlight
Without warning, my computer won't let me put a smile (from Pprune selections) where I want to place it. And I have also lost the capability of highlighting a posters post (where highlighting means enclosing in a blue frame) Also lost capability of using brackets where I wish to use italics, bold or underline, when composing a post to Pprune. Any ideas welcome and appreciated

testing also, since my FFox has undergone a change in the last few days. (I can't reliably use the back arrow.) Highlighting seems to work. As does bold. |
AOL has been giving me trouble over the past couple of weeks in posting, smilies etc. may be a change in their near future!

User CP/Edit Options/Message Editor check you don't have 'Basic' selected.

Blimey. If Loose can do it, and I can do it, it must be something in your set up.

Is there a reason for that, Mods? Would you rather we didn't do it? Certainly makes longer threads a bit easier to follow/track. |

Is there a reason for that, Mods? Would you rather we didn't do it? Certainly makes longer threads a bit easier to follow/track. A decision was made many moons ago, when the PPRuNe server came out of a Christmas cracker, that too many people were hitting Reply and filling threads with a huge amount of unnecessary verbiage, that setting Reply NOT to automatically include the entirety of the post being responded to would be A Good Thing. PPRuNe seems to have coped remarkably well without the functionality, although telling people how to "quote" is a bit of a bore. Possibly the decision could be reviewed, now that IB are running the show - and paying the 'leccy bill. Why not drop Admin a line and see if it gets included the New Year Resolutions? SD |
.... and the answer will be no.
We like it clumsy and unwieldy. It saves banning those who are besotted with quoting posts 3 centimeters above along with line by line rebuttals. Rob |

I have the same problem, has your computer upgraded to to IE11 by any chance? Mine did and I think that is what is to blame. To overcome:
Smilies can be dragged and droppedhttp://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...lies/smile.gif To show a quote highlighted in blue: Copy and paste the relevant part: .... and the answer will be no. then put [ quote ] at the front and [ /quote ] at the back but without any spaces and voila!!! .... and the answer will be no. |
Tarq, your post was untouched by human hand.

Rob Have you got NoScript or some such running that's blocking ibserv.net? SD |
I have NoScript, and AdblockPlus, on Firefox.
But that's not it. Thing is, I'm pretty sure (like, around 85%) that I had included the OP's name in the quote. Since the only way I can work out how to do this, is manually, it makes the procedure slightly more memorable than just hitting "quote/reply" - or variations thereof used by other forum software. But it could be a bit of creeping forgetfulness, I guess. |
Tarq57 - to quote with name: click the reply button in the person's post. In the address bar delete the number 1 from '....&noquote=1' at the end of the address then click return. This will put the person's whole post in your 'reply to thread' box and then you can edit out the parts of the post you don't need, ending up with something similar to this when you Preview Post :

What's an arrowhead? |
I'm sure there's a better name for it but I mean the http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...s/viewpost.gif to the right of the quoted poster's name.
|
OK, thanks. I see that beside some quoted posts, but not all.
Never thought to click it before. |
You will only see it where the URL edit has been used to 'quote', I believe. If the 'standard' icon above the editor box is used it does not appear.
