Windows update malicious software removal tool,
Had a reminder that there was a windows update to down load today one of those Windows update malicious software removal tools,
I downloaded it but I dont know where it downloaded to, maybe its automatic in its operation, anybody tell me if there's something I need to do with it once I have downloaded it. Nick. |
Running MRT
Its simple when you know how. Just click Start, Run and in the open: box type MRT and press enter.
That's for XP if you are using Win 7 or Vista it may be a bit different. CAT III |
Depends what version of Windows perhaps, but this sort of route should work for the last few:
Open control panel, open Windows updates, find the link to windows update history, et voila! you have the complete list. As to what each does, well, that's another matter entirely! |
Invoking MSRT from run by using "mrt" also works on Windows Vista and 7
Make sure you have real time anti virus software and a good firewall as well. |
I downloaded it but I dont know where it downloaded to, maybe its automatic in its operation, anybody tell me if there's something I need to do with it once I have downloaded it. You can also run it explicitly from the Microsoft web site if you really want to. |
Thank you guys all sorted.
Nick. |
