Opening AVI file
I've received a .avi file, which on double clicking, opens with windows Media Player, in sound only, with no video.
Any suggestions as to how to obtain the video portion? |
Get yourself a codec pack such as Tsunami (unfortunate name).
Alternatively, get Gspot, which will show you the codecs being used. When it comes to playing back, try VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ which comes with just about all you need. BOFH |
Thanks, BOFH- that did nicely! Good programme! (Videolan, that is.) Downloaded it and it plays the video.

VLC is also out there for Mac users - it's been my default player for a couple of years now. Quicktime, preview and DVD Player totally redundant. The VLC group are very quick on their feet regarding progress (?) in codecs.
