I’m with NTL broadband and it just keeps coming up with page cannot be displayed. Every other site is fine.

126,7 13th April 2004 14:42

No problem here either.
I tried it with Mozilla and IE. Works fine with both. I have found that some sites have problems with some browsers, but not PPJN.com

robione 14th April 2004 02:29

wont load

been trying for days, getting desperate now for my fix, help please

Ntl is ISP

mazzy1026 14th April 2004 11:51

If you are running any spyware/adware, anti virus, firewall etc then turn them all off and try again - if it works then one of them is blocking the site. Also turn off any search bars you may have installed on your web browser too.

Have you tried disconnecting from the web and then reconnecting?

Also - sometimes this happens in IE where you cant type in a link in the address bar (beats me why) so go to google.com - type in the URL and then click the result which should be the direct link to the site - that way you are linking to it and not using the address bar to type it in.

Cheers

Maz :ok:

Hi guys,

Wasn't aware there was a problem.

Traffic has dipped a bit over the last few weeks but only by about 5%. Is this error message from your internet provider or from 0catch.com (our web host)?

How about if you click on these links rather than putting typing them in your browser?

mazzy1026 14th April 2004 18:02

How stupid am I ?!!! I should have just typed the links for you like the ones above - rather than having you trundle over to Google - sorry about that mate - was having a blonde moment :E

Luke SkyToddler 17th April 2004 14:49

Still getting nothing ... either with IE or Mozilla, firewall on or off.

It connects to the site and gets to the "waiting for ppjn.com" stage, sits for a couple of minutes and then gives me the "The document contains no data" window.

Every other website is working as per normal, so I'm pretty sure it's not a problem at my end.

aaarrrggghhhh ... must ... have ... ppjn ... NOW

:(

mrsurrey 17th April 2004 15:42

sorry luke, not sure what else to suggest.

I can tell you there's no clever flash/java on the site. Just straight forward html text so i can't think what's wrong.

Whenever my computer starts doing strange things I just format the hard drive and start again. I'm no expert but it always does the job :ok:

robione 20th April 2004 00:20

still cant get in

Ive had some other probs with my pc so decided to format the hard drive, ive started from scratch, ive tried the above links , im sitting here scratching my head.

?wot do i do next?

Please help.its getting into wks now rather than days since ive been on ppjn

Aerofoil 25th April 2004 15:24

I have just downloaded Spybot (my second spyware remover on this pc) and it said when i opened it up that if spybot deletes spyware robots from your computer that you may not be able to view the robots' parent site.

Do you guys think that this may be the reason why we cant view PPJN? i.e we have deleted a spyware robot which PPJN uses?

Thanks in advance

Dave

Aerofoil 25th April 2004 19:13

:{ :{ :{ :{ :{

Its been weeks now and i still can't even load up the front page!
I can't see it being anything at my end because i havent changed any of the settings.
I have run TZ spyware remover and ad aware to clean my cookies etc. Also i have tried a virus scan and checked my security settings and its all fine.

Im stumped if i know what's wrong! :{

Dave

Luke SkyToddler 25th April 2004 22:21

I had it going for a couple of days there since my last post, but now it's gone again, for no apparent reason. Along with another forum I frequent.

I got my mate to check when he was round here the other day with his flash laptop, and he can definitely load the page at his house but not at mine when he's using my connection.

My guess is that something dodgy has happened to one of the big DNS servers that these ISP providers all use

PPJN Access

Hi,

Sorry to hear you guys are still having trouble.

I've read some of the posts about spyware robots - i'm not sure what they are but we haven't put any on the ppjn site. The host has software which counts hits and unique visitors but i assume that is something different? Like i've said before the website is just made up of standard html text, theres no clever software or programming that we use.

Can the people having trouble try accessing these websites - they all use the same host (www.0catch.com ) as us:

http://galanodel.batcave.net/
http://peggylprice-photogallery.com/
http://www.shattered-rage.envy.nu/

I like the one with sailing boats on though the other two are a bit weird. Anyway if you could let us know how you get on that would be cool.

Frankly i haven't got a clue what's going on. I've paid the the host till the end of September so i'd rather not change providers just yet:hmm:

Let us know how you get on,

MrSurrey

Aerofoil 28th April 2004 11:30

Hi Mr Surrey

Thanks for taking the time to try and rectify this problem.

I have just tried all three links and they all do the same thing ( they open up a blank window as if its searching for the site and then eventually says 'cannot find server'.)

So it looks like it is something to do with the host maybe?

Thanks again

Dave

mrsurrey 28th April 2004 16:07

Thanks Aerofoil,

I'll get in touch with the host and see what they have to say.

GARDENER 28th April 2004 19:24

As above-have tried the suggested links and have the same problem as mentioned in previous posts.
Who's hot and who's not this week? Can't afford to apply to everyone anymore!

Hi,

I'm still waiting for a reply from the hosts.

In the meantime here's the update list from the front page. There's 3 weeks worth so I hope that covers the time you couldn't get connected.

The top bunch was added today. As usual +ve=good news, -ve=bad news.

Cheers,

Are you using NTL?

Hi,

Still waiting for a reply from the host, i guess we'll have to wait till Monday now that it's the weekend.

Just a shot in the dark - campbell83 mentioned in another thread that he tried a different computers connected to NTL Broadband without success.

Is everyone else having troubles using NTL dial-up or broadband? If you could let me know it could help the host solve the problem.

Cheers,

MrSurrey

Aerofoil 1st May 2004 18:50

Hi MrSurrey

Im using NTL broadband without any success on PPJN.

Thanks

Dave

GARDENER 1st May 2004 19:19

Virgin broadband-have been having problems but I got on the site yesterday- Fri 30th April

campbell83 1st May 2004 22:26

I’m on NTL broadband and tried all the links mrsurrey attached but all say the same (cannot find server). I’ve also tried all the above possible solutions without any look so it definitely looks like NTL’s server fault:confused:

Luke SkyToddler 3rd May 2004 18:09

Still no go here :(

Can't load any of the other sites you listed either Mr Surrey

(I'm with virgin.net broadband)

Did the web host people get back to you yet?

Thanks everyone,

The host seems to be at a loss as to what's going on. I think it could be NTL's fault but I don't see how i can realistically get them fix the problem.

Therefore I've had to sign up with a new host. It takes some time to transfer to the domain, perhaps 7-10 days so it's not a quick fix I'm afraid.

Also as a side effect I think the site may go down entirely for a couple of days whilst the domain's being handed over.

Cheers,

MrSurrey

Well that fixed it Mrsurrey

It's back again this evening ... and loading like flamin' lightning too, I must say.

Thank you ever so much :ok:

campbell83 7th May 2004 20:49

I have just formatted my hard drive, called up NTL to connect my broadband back up (as I have windows 98, and the NTL CD requires Windows 2000 or XP) and ppjn.com now works!! :)

mrsurrey 8th May 2004 00:46

Eureka!

Yep, that seemed to do it. Check out www.dreamhost.com if you're looking for a host. Brilliant technical support team as well a rather nifty set of servers it would seem. Not that I'm a nerd but it's pretty quick innit? :ooh:

Thanks for everyone's help, and I hope that didn't take you too long campbell83 - i doubt anything was wrong with your computer after all. Still it was raining today wasn't it? :E

Cheers,

MrSurrey

Aerofoil 8th May 2004 12:45
