can anyone help?
i have just buily my new sysetem asus a7n8x delux motherboard amd k7 athlon 2600+ 333 (2.08ghz) 2 * 512mb pc2700 333mhz 20gb maxtor drive 40bg maxtor drive msi gf fx 5600 td 256mb 550watt power supply problems! why does the processor show as only running at 1.25ghz" tried to adjust bios but wouldnt boot unless set to auto running fs2004 - no panel to fly the plane with! all other views work just not the main panel.if i run using the safe version of fs, then panel comes up anyone any help or ideas? |
It sounds like your FSB is set at 200Mhz rather than 333Mhz (2.08/333 x 200 = 1.25Ghz). You may have a jumper set incorrectly on your mainboard.
Go to page 1-10 of your manual and look at paragraph 2 reference the settings for the CPU_FSB jumper. It should be set on pins 1-2 (default) to allow the board to auto select between 400/333/266Mhz, if set on pins 2-3 it wires the board to only support 200Mhz. |
Quoting a manual page number, now that's service :ok:

LDG_GEAR _MONITOR,
2 * 512mb pc2700 333mhz You have the proper multiplier for your CPU: 12.5x Make sure your CPU Model# is: AXDA2600DKV3D Also make sure you have the Heatsink on properly. If you have it on backwards it will lock up the computer. Take Care, Richard |
For a 333Mhz CPU, your settings should be:
CPU Speed: 2083mhz CPU Frequency Multiplier: 12.5 CPU External Frequency: 166 Memory Frequency: Auto CPU VCore: 1.650V Have you updated your BIOS to the latest version? The latest version is 1006, check when your machine boots and see what version you have. If it's earlier, you can download version 1006 from here. Read the manual for how to load it. |
ORAC,
That link is the incorrect motherboard. LDG_GEAR _MONITOR has the A7N8X Deluxe which comes in two different chipsets. You have to look on the PCB between the second and third PCI Slots to tell which revision the motherboard is. Rev. 1.03, 1.04, and 1.06 are the nForce2 400 Chipset. Rev. 2.00 and higher are the nForce2 Ultra400 Chipset. A7N8X Deluxe motherboard Rev 1.04 and higher will work with the 2600+ without needing a BIOS revision. If the motherboard Rev is 1.03 and the BIOS as never been updated, then it will need a BIOS will need to be updated. I am still leaning towards a RAM issue though. Here is the list of Approved nForce RAM: nForceTM Memory Compatibility Take Care, Richard P.S. Here is the link for the BIOS: A7N8X DELUXE |
thanks for assistance so far chaps however still struggling !!
motherboard is version 2 bios rev1005 bios settings are multiply12.5 mam freq auto cpu core adjusted now 1650 cpu part number axda2600dkv3d ext freq 100 have tried to set both 133 and 166 resulting in locking up on reboot with message of did not shut down properley hit del and set correct CPU settings - put 100mhz back in and boots up. as for memory all i can find on the modules is PMI DDR333 512MB MD34512PQP 3208GATA07-03C3 does that help anyone? any offers as to why i cannot fly my flight sim without the panel showing?be nice to know how fast/high i am !! |
A few things to try:
Remove one of the RAM sticks, see if you still have the same problem. If yes then repeat for the other stick. Try moving the sticks into a different DIMM slot. Try 'Load Setup Defaults' in the BIOS menu (see manual page 2-26). Cheers |
LDG_GEAR _MONITOR,
I would take the RAM back to the place you bought it and tell them you need nForce Approved RAM for your computer. I am 99.9% sure your problem is RAM that is not 100% compatible with nForce. See if you can borrow some Crucial RAM to test with. If you live in the U.S.A. get two sticks of Mushkin Level II Black CAS 2.2.2 PC-2700 or PC-3200. It is 100% rock solid stable with nForce and overclocks like crazy should you ever need to. Take Care, Richard P.S. Once we get your computer running up to speed, then we will work on FS2k4. |
You can get it in the UK as well Naples, see here.
|
ORAC,
Thank you for the heads up. I will go post the info in the MSI Forums right away. There are many people from the Europe looking for a way to get Mushkin RAM. Take Care, Richard |
Mr naples
i now have new motherboard fitted and all is finally working at last ! thanks for the help next problem i have installed flight sim 2004 all views when using it are fine except the cockpit view. the panel i missing! the view out window is fine but no cockpit anyone help on this one ? |
Panel views are normally done by pessing shift plus 1, 2, 3 ,4 etc.
|
Err have you tried view/instruments/ then click on main panel..
Then when you select different views - One should now include the instrument panel! (just keep pressing S to cycle round these views.) |
LDG_GEAR _MONITOR,
I am glad to hear that you are all set now. I was wondering if they told you what was wrong with the old motherboard? Take Care, Richard |
