Fitting new HDD FAQ

Le Pen 24th Aug 2002 08:10

OK Orac, Thanks

I have started off and installed it ..... BUT

At boot up It is recognised as Primary Slave but Windows dosent recognise it.

It starts up nicely, sees the old HDD, sees the new HDD then windows starts but no sign of the new drive ANYWHERE in Windows.

Anyway I will read the link you sent and see

Thanks again

The PC will see it immediately. For the OS to see it, it must be formatted.

You must use FDISK to create a partition (you can split it and create more "virtual" disks if you want) and then FORMAT to format it.

Windows will then see it.
