Credit Card when out of UK

Hi Folks

This is specifically for UK residents when travelling abroad, please.

My UK credit card company charges a fee for non-sterling transactions, whether they be when I am out of the UK, or when paying in any other currency than sterling when in the UK.

Has anyone any suggestion or experience with a UK based credit-card company which does not make these exorbitant charges?

Thanks for your advice

Just a remark, this is not specific to the UK. I do not know of any credit card company not charging "abroad usage" fees, some bad ones up to 6% of the bill.

Halifax Clarity card is very good ANYWHERE in the world.
For Euro only, I have just come across Metro Bank's offering which is good (Branches in SE England only at present)

I've got a Nationwide Select Credit Card and there's no charge - it's converted at the Visa Spot Rate.
I've also got this new Travelex Supercard which you can link to both your Credit and Debit Cards. It was great when I used it on ATMs in France in Jun/Jul -no transaction charge or conversion charge .......but it no longer works. Travelex now say the transaction must be completed within 3 seconds after the PIN is entered. It's not possible on French ATMs

Nationwide Select card for me too. That's the reason I got it.
