PPRuNe Access - Problem Reporting

All,

If you encounter a problem or anomaly, please can you log the relevant information (time, date, browser, nature of problem, screenshot or text of error message etc.) here.

I know that in some cases that will require saving the error details until the site is accessible again, but any such efforts would be much appreciated.

Thanks

SD

You might get a lot of traffic in here!

Latest for me - constant Database error message from around 1230-1830BST today. Thought I'd been locked out.

Arfur Feck-Sake 10th Jul 2008 20:34

Ditto frostbite's experiences.

Avitor 10th Jul 2008 20:40

Same here this morning, I assumed it was (rightly or wrongly) server overload.

Carrier 10th Jul 2008 21:20

Same here last few days using Safari on an iMac. Happened several times. Waited a few minutes and then able to get through.

henry crun 10th Jul 2008 22:09

Ditto on the Database Error.

Database Error

Using IE7 - Win XP - on Thurs 9 July unable to access PPrune between 7.00AM & 16.45 - Tried using two diff M/C's one SP2 and one SP3 - database error msg, in both instances.

Thanks

Beatriz Fontana 11th Jul 2008 08:32

Concur, 'Database Error' all of Thursday 10th July until around 2000GMT

Telstar 11th Jul 2008 09:05

When searching for individual posts made by a specific poster, the link to the specific post often does not bring you to the post, but to the end of the thread. Which is annoying when the thread is 30-40 pages long!

Saab Dastard 11th Jul 2008 09:33

Telstar, can you provide an example?

Got the "database error" message most of yesterday.
At the time of this posting, the site is taking a very long time to open. About 15-30sec + "waiting for pprune.org"...

BOAC 12th Jul 2008 07:59

0735Z: one instance of 'cannot find server'. UK

Telstar 12th Jul 2008 09:11

I can. Search for a post by PPRuNe Towers. Then click on his username, drop down menu says "Find more posts by PPRuNe Towers". You then get a list of search results. He currently posted in one thread called "Growing evidence the downturn is upon us", if you click on the link that should bring you directly to his individual post, in this case it starts off with the sentence "Due to the nature of this forum....", it doesn't, it brings you to a seemingly random page.

mutt 15th Jul 2008 13:20

Lots of "page not found" error messages last night.....

VMD+12 18th Jul 2008 17:42

Everytime I change topic or page, I am told to log in. It means that I get a lot of typing practice but is very infuriating. It only started happening a couple of weeks ago. Have I got a setting wrong or is this something new?

BEagle 25th Jul 2008 09:52

Roughly 0830-0950Z today, IE6 - lots of 'cannot find server' and 'database error' messages....:uhoh:

Again...:hmm:

S'land 25th Jul 2008 10:34

Tried to log onto forum between 10.30 and 11.30 this morning.

Using Firefox had either "server not found", "database error" or "no data found - link is empty".

Using Opera no messages, just a blank page (have been trying Opera to see if it is any good).

cavortingcheetah 25th Jul 2008 14:47

:hmm:

Also in Germany and experienced the same problem, using Fire Fox, at the same time this mornin.:\

Saab Dastard 25th Jul 2008 16:55

All,

Thanks for your reports - I won't respond often, but do rest assured that IB are checking this thread and using it to correlate with their log files to identify when, where and hopefully what the problem is and to fix it.

PPRUNE got a mention on R4 News this morning at 8 O'Clock - re QF depressureisation - not a explicit PP Ref but "A technical forum on the web" prepare for Server busy messages today - me thinks.

BOAC 26th Jul 2008 13:33

Further to my last - error message reads:

Line:910
Char: 2
Error:object expected
code:0
URL:http://www.pprune.org/forums/newthre...newthread&f=13

Happens with 'reply' also, but only in IE

On normal page view it is

line:2121

If I turn off 'display script debugging' I am inundated with apparent script errors????'

EDIT: Appears to be a 'personal problem'.... as this is my laptop and it is ok. HOWEVER I also now have a XML parsing error when I try and start FFox on my desktop. Currently uninstalling FFox 3.0.1 and downloading ie7. Damn these aliens...........

EDIT2: IE7 and a reinstall of FF3 appear to have sorted whatever 'it' was.

green granite 26th Jul 2008 16:53

There appears to be a time stamp problem in the The Really Really Boring And Totally Pointless Snippets Of Information Thread MK X,

Halfway through the day it reverts back to early morning.

Have you been naughty?

That's what happened to me once.

S'land 31st Jul 2008 16:23

Was thrown out of PPRuNe at 15.58 GMT and could not get back on. Message read "Database Error".

TwoDogs 9th Aug 2008 13:24

Logged in OK today but everytime I change pages I get asked to log in again ???
Log in again Ok but does same thing next time I change page.

Guest 112233 9th Aug 2008 15:17

Site Navigation.

- Three posts to day, updates fine - but as per prev - navigation between threads, is very slow. Its peculliar to PPRUNE - the rest of the "interweb" seems OK. (using IE7, Clone, Norton - BT Home Hub)

Thanks.

BOAC 10th Aug 2008 20:14

Ditto slow navigation and having to use 'refresh' a lot - not sure if it is a machine or site problem?? Posting v slow too.

Saab Dastard 10th Aug 2008 20:52

BOAC,

It is a site problem, and there's an element of "don't hold your breath"...

SD

BOAC 10th Aug 2008 21:29

and there's an element of "don't hold your breath"...
- have I got time to nip off and change a few napppes, then?:)

Conan The Barber 11th Aug 2008 10:14

there's an element of "don't hold your breath"...
Is there a hint of resignation there.

Saab Dastard 11th Aug 2008 10:25

Let's just say that if you don't want to see any DB errors or suffer the site slowdown problems, then you should move to the USA.

BOAC 11th Aug 2008 19:07

Is there a hint of resignation there
- what, not another one?

Conan The Barber 11th Aug 2008 20:44

The duplicity was not accidental. Neither is it this time.

limp_leek 12th Aug 2008 06:41

Totally off topic.

Sick of the message

Hello limp_leek, it appears that you have not posted on the forums for several weeks. Why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a debate with other members in any one of the forums?
I really do not have anything to contribute but I have to be a member to read things.

I just dumped a post in here so the message goes away for a while.

:ugh:

BEagle 14th Aug 2008 14:39

Slow and intermittent again today (1530-ish BST) - lots of 'Cannot Find Server' instances.

A right PITA!!

dazdaz 14th Aug 2008 16:40

One thing I've noticed (F/F gives me a running update as to the loading of selected page) is the fact it's displaying "waiting for???" on most occasions this is due to the loading of an advertisement on selected page. Daz

Mr A Tis 14th Aug 2008 19:32

Incredibly S-L-O-W & almost impossible to get onto Pprune today - all afternoon & evening.
When I do get on, change thread & its back to " Cannot find server"
Absolutely awful.
