Internet Explorer Access Control error message. Help!!

HI,
On my laptop (Windows XP Microsoft IE6) i can connect fine with a dial up connection, but when I use the wireless LAN card, I can use all other internet applications escept IE (eg Messenger etc) but not view web pages. I am able to view https:// pages, but not those beginning with http://. What settings do I need to change to allow this. I have put the security down to low and it still dosen't work. Appreciate any ideas.

Thanks

invalid entries,

Did you enter the Primary and Secondary DNS Server Addresses in the Wireless Connection's TCP/IP Settings?

Take Care,

Richard

Richard:

HTTPS seems to work which rules out DNS, no ?

invalid:

Dialup works fine ? Wireless doesn't ? How do you get your Internet connection through wireless - broadband ? Is there a firewall (perhaps on an ADSL router) in the way which is blocking it ?

Also, I'm no XP expert cos it's not on my lappy yet, but I'd check the internal firewall settings too.

The Nr Fairy,

You are correct. I miss read it. (Thought he could get Messenger but not HTTP/HTTPS.)

In that case in IE, go Tools >> Internet Options >> Connections >> LAN Settings

And make use there is a checkmark in Automatically Detect Settings.

If that does not do it, under Network Connections, make sure the Wireless NIC does not have the Internet Connection Firewall checkmarked.

Take Care,

Richard

PROXY

Probably set to proxy for HTTP but not HTTPS

First (and last) place to look hopefully...
