AOL/XP Internet Connection Firewall

My (and everyone elses) contract with AOL includes, as is fairly well known, the involuntary suppression of the Windows XP firewall (ICF).

It neither worries me, nor do I want it (got a better one). However, I am very curious to know the reason WHY? .....there must be a reason, .....presumably. Not much help from a web search, or AOL; not convinced the HelpLine knew what I was talking about.

Can anyone enlighten me, or provide a link to the subject? as I say, just curiosity. .....Ta.
