restore and cab files

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2 1/2 year old laptop running Windows ME and a 5gig hard drive.

Recently I have noticed that the unused portion of the hard drive has been diminishing for no apparent reason as I have not been adding software.

On further investigation I find I have a RESTORE directory which apparently started on 3 April this year and has many CAB files of 8mb each. Many of those are exactly the same size but dated 1,2 or 3 days apart. As an experiment, I copied one of these to an external drive and tried to delete but could not.

My questions are:
1. Why did these restore files start in April this year only?
2. Do I need them all or only the latest for restore purposes?
3. If not all of them are required how can I delete the older ones?

Thanks

Nasib

Yeah BOAC, that puzzled me too.

I can only think that someone has hacked that page on the Annoyances.org server.

Maybe I'll drop 'em a line.

Mac - search for Jack on Google and he appears to be a fairly prolific poster so perhaps he upset someone?
