'Downloading Updates' in Windows XP Pro.
Whilst happily PPRuNe-ing, I noticed an unusual icon on the system tray. Moving the cursor over it reveals the caption 'Downloading Updates'......
It must be a pretty big 'Update' as the computer has been downloading it at 46.6 Kbps and has so far received 14,171,940 bytes and is only 48% complete.
But what is this all about? Is it an OS update or what? The only programs I have which might update are Encarta (I updated that myself yesterday) and Norton Antivirus which normally looks after itself by updating when it chooses to.
Anyone got any ideas? Now 14,666,112 bytes received and still only 49% complete!

BEagle,
This will not answer your question on your current download but it will help for the furture.
Go to Control Panel > System > Automatic Updates
Change the default setting to:
Notify me before downloading any updates and notify me again before installing them on my computer
That way you will know what the update is before you start the download.
