Exel Help
Hello All
Yet again my extremely limited knowledge of computers leads me to this forum! Every time I enter a figure in one of the Exel blocks with a minus or a plus sign, then when I press enter it keeps the number but dumps the plus/minus sign. eg -10000 becomes 10000 when I press enter. Can anyone explain to a two year old computer brain how to get around this?

The following is just a guess, you may have the wrong cell format selected.
1) Right click on a problem cell.
2) Go down the box that appears and left click on Format Cell
3) Left click on a cell format that seems reasonable.
You could select the whole spreadsheet in/before step 1.

I agree with seacue - with Excel 97, if you have the Format/Cells/Number set to 'number' and have highlighted the second option down under 'negative numbers' (1234.10 in red on mine) it will do that.
Change it to the top one (-1234.10 in black) and see.
Regarding the 'plus' numbers, I'm pretty sure Excel uses the standard notation of dropping the '+'. It still counts as a '+' though. Check the Help files?
