High Speed Hotel Internet

I have a friend, who has asked me to ask the question.

In a hotel that offers high speed internet in room access, how do they calculate your 24 hour charging period?
After log on, and about 12 hours later, he reset his clock to 10 hours early.......after 24 hours instead of being terminated....and a charge on his room bill, he is still on line, and NO charge.....

They have a standard rate that is worked out based on the hours used, time of the day, etc.
Then they charge you as much as they can.
