Angry How do I restore LPT1 port

A "friend" of mine thought he was doing me a favour by cleaning up my PC. Unfortuanatly he has somehow deleted the LPT1 port for my printer. I can now not use the printer. It is defaulting to LPT3 which is a virtual infrared port.
Could someone be as kind to explain how I can reinstall the LPT1
Thanks in advance

You don't state the o/s so this is for windoze 98..

Start/settings/Control panel

Add new Hardware. Next, Next,

No. I want to select, next, next

goes through detection process.

At this point it may find lpt1. If it does follow the instructions

else

next - brings up a list of device types

scroll down to ports(Com & LPT) & highlight it

next

Select the one you want & follow the instructions.

For Win98 you should need the system cd to complete this.

Assuming you are using Windows, go to control panel, add/remove hardware and re-install lpt1 from there.

Hope this helps
