My machine has done it again - it has taken the unilateral stance of automatically changing the settings for internet connections.
Windows XP - on any web page - "Tools", "Internet Options", "Connections", I click "Never dial a connection" (radio button), "Apply"..........go away, come back only a few seconds later, and it has changed the radio button to "Dial whenever a network connection is not present".
This screws up my DSL service.
Happened before (long time ago) - eventually just stopped doing it - but now it's back.

Maybe off the target here, but check the settings of your auto-updating for windows..if it is set for auto downloading and installation, it may reset your browser settings to allow it to do so...mine did..but not sure if it was by design, or "just one of them things"
