8O Gb drive only seen as 32Gb

Hi guys,
any thoughts on this one please?
Just installed a new 80 GB HD as Slave (will eventually use as main drive) BIOS auto detects but says max under LBA is 32 GB. Fdisk does the same , will only partition it to a max of 32GB.
I am running Win mE.
Do I need a BIOS update?
