Unhappy Massive CPU drain on opening e-book

Hi All,

I notice a massive drain on my CPU power when I open an e-book in MS Word (2002).

There is no problem using or accessing any other word document, but when i open this book, it uses 100% CPU power and the computer grinds to a halt and then fluctuates between 40 - 99% without doing anything. Throughout this fluctuation, the applications tab on windows task manager shows that word is not responding. This happened to Outlook today with no problem with Word. Confusing?

No other process is using CPU power. It is isolated to these programmes. I thought it was ICQ ( a recent download), so i got rid of it, but the problem reoccurs.

I've got an AMD 1.4 GHz, 1.5 Mb Ram and am running XP; so loads of spare 'oomf'.

I'd really appreciate your help chaps.

regards (again)
