Error message in "My Computer"
I will be installing broadband next week - I am very happy to say!
But doing a test run for activation I note with alarm that when I access "Internet connections" - Dial-Up connections etc., in My Computer. I get a pop-up under the heading Error - simply says "catastrophic failure" with a click to OK. Which just clears it.
Any ideas what it might be? I am using XP Pro. I need the link so that I can install and activate.
Thanks,
PPP

Only reference that I can find after a very cursory search is this
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;q243349
Seems to fit your situation (?)
Please let us all know if this does indeed seem appropriate and whether you applied the hotfix and whether it worked.

Thanks for the replies.
Problem now fixed.
Seems that what was the norm in Win98se is not in XP. DUN is almost redundant and any new internet connections are completed through "Network connections/create new internet connection" in the Control Panel. Anyway I did a trial run and all seemed to fit so I will be on my way next week!
Thanks again.
