OE6 Message Rules

In an attempt to halt the annoying incoming flow of Nigerian 419 scam spams and "See Britney xxxxing" type junk, I've been trying to configure the Message Rules (MR) facility to filter it out, based on certain subject words and certain words in the body of the email. I know it's possible to set up MR to send stuff direct to the Deleted folder and to mark it as read, and I've successfully done this but I want to stop it coming in to the PC in the first place, especially as I don't want some of the foul language anywhere on a family PC. However, the MR option to "Do not download from server" automatically greys out the other option that I want to use, "Delete from server". Also, all the MR options are only applied, according to the MR dialogue box, after the message has been received. It doesn't seem logical to have a rule not to download a message that can only be applied after it's been downloaded. Any help welcomed.

I like Mailwasher, at http://www.mailwasher.net/.

You can opt to delete spam at the server and if you want to, bounce it back to the sender. If the bounce doesn't work (spammers often forge their sender's address) then you don't get a bounce on your bounce. Very clever.
