Smartphone as a PC

Sometimes I'm using my Smartphone in a PC like setup. Works on Samsung S and Z Series Phones since 2018. There the mode is called Samsung DEX (Desktop Experience). It's expected to be integrated into Android for other Smartphones soon.

This is maybe the first accident analysis done on a smartphone, playing videos&ATC audio while multitask entering info into a spreadsheet.

I connected a 4k 32" monitor, a wired mouse and a Bluetooth foldable keyboard to my Phone. My screenshot here shows a PPRuNe tab open to get timestamps from a photo, and Gemini with listing all posts with sources from the KLGA thread.

Agreed. Dex is surprisingly good.

Vey impressive!

I have Dex but rarely use it - perhaps I should!

To be honest, it's not that smooth an experience anymore. Recently they removed some shortcuts and habits that were Windows like. Occasionally you stumble over small inconveniences like you can't read long filenames in some select dialogs.

On the other hands you can open 2 file explorers which makes it easy to copy or move files.

I hope that with rolling out on global Android, it becomes more popular, quirks will be smoothed out, so finally you don't need a PC or notebook anymore.

Meanwhile I have a mobile monitor. Even at 18" instead of usual 15" it fits into my backpack.
