Gmail access W 11

Normal use computer desktop running W7Prof 64 bit and Gmail. I have an HP tablet and an HP laptop, both on W11 and would like to operate gmail on both. When I attempt to log-in on either, the two-stage verification kicks in and sends a notification to my Nexus 10 tablet. This displays the message requesting confirmation that it is me attempting to log-in. When I select the "yes, it's me" response, nothing happens ! Until recently (last week) this verification worked OK, but not now.
Any helpful hints, tips or pointers, please ?
TIA

What happens if you log out of Google on both devices, and then try to log in again on just the laptop ?

Can you confirm that your usual desktop is running Windows 7 Professional? That may or may not be an issue with login but it is most certainly long out of support and hasn't received any security fixes for years. I certainly wouldn't be using it online today.

Are you running any sort of 'pop-up window' blocker? That sometimes foils this sort of transaction.

Thank you all, for the prompt replies
DR - If I do that,I get the same problem i.e. verification query on the Nexus but the "Yes, it's me" 'lights up' but nothing gets through !
Magyar Flyer - unfortunately, NO !
Undertow - I appreciate that W 7 is very old hat, but I am comfortable with using it, and W 11 leaves me mystified !
Netstruggler - recently installed Adblocker, so you may well have it ! I'll try uninstalling it and see if that works

Thanks again to everyone - problem now solved ... indirectly ! The intermittent brain cell pointed out that direct contact was possible - email wasn't essential !

In software speak that's a 'workaround' rather than a 'solution' but as you've found, it's often good enough.
