Firewall
A little while back we had a thread suggesting "Tinysoftware" as the supplier of a version of their firewall for home users for free. Whoever posted it - bravo its great. Went back to get a version for a computer that I'm setting up for a family member - and Oh sad day - its no longer free !
Sorry to be the purveyor of such tragic news for computers.

I think you will find that ZoneLabs.com still do a free version of Zone Alarm.
Maybe worth a try here:
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/home.jsp
You will have to scroll down a bit to see the free offer.

Firewalls...
If you've got a spare PC (a very modestly specced onle is fine) the you might want to checkout www.smoothwall.org. This will be of particular interest to people who want to network multiple PCs and/or have ADSL, but is fine even if you have a single working system and a 56k modem
