What Happened?
On July 25, 2024, we discovered a configuration error that may have inadvertently exposed your personal information in your FlightAware account, including user ID, password, and email address. Depending on the information you provided, the information may also have included your full name, billing address, shipping address, IP address, social media accounts, telephone numbers, year of birth, last four digits of your credit card number, information about aircraft owned, industry, title, pilot status (yes/no), and your account activity (such as flights viewed and comments posted).

Yes, I received one of those also. I operate a couple of self funded ADS-B feeder receivers to FAW and several other like internet sites. I haven't ever supplied details other than the basic technical detail for feeding to their servers and that's as far as it's gone. Accordingly I don't think any critical information along the lines of financial details would be in their possession. Most of the other stuff is out there anyway, and one can find out quite a of of information about a 'person of interest' just by googling around. Even this worthy site can be rewarding if anyone starts checking on another individual's PPRuNe details. However, it's just another example of how vulnerable one's personal data can be in this strange and often twisted age. Be careful - it's a minefield out there!
