Please excuse if this isn't in the correct place….. mods please move if there's a better place for it.
I am looking for a car driving simulator for my young son (under 13 years old) to run on PC with flight controls (yoke for steering wheel, pedals for…. pedals). I have attached an old PC FlightSIm yoke and pedals to a slow PC running Windows10, and they're 'working', as in recognised by the PC, and able to move a cursor around, as well as register the 15 or so buttons on the yoke console. I realise only 2 pedals can't operate a clutch for manual, so an auto transmission is ideal. I was thinking of mechanically locking the (rudder) pedals in the central position and using the toe brakes as accelerator and brake to start with.
Ideally he'd like something based on Formula1, hopefully with many of the F1 circuits, and I guess a paddle button would be required to operate a sequential gearbox.
What I hope for is something reasonably realistic, and NOT a 'typical' game, 'catch the baddies' style software. And I hope not to pay too much just to get started; once I can see it is being used and it is worthwhile, I'd be happy to invest in both software and hardware (faster PC, extra screens, gaming chair, better steering wheel / controls etc)
Any ideas on where to get started please? I've Googled a bit but found very little of what I'm looking for.

F1 2024 by EA. You could get older versions cheaper and they're OK. You can subscribe to Xbox game pass to access loads of the latest games. Yes, this works on the PC.

Yes, I had seen the F1 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 etc, but was not keen to buy until I knew whether it would work with my yoke and pedal set up, with adaptability to program in the various buttons and other 'joystick' type trimmers and switches on the FS yoke.. Are you able to advise whether it will have the adaptability I am looking for before I commit to buying this?

On the PC you map the controls to whatever you want. So assuming the PC recognises the input you are making, you can set it as a control option.
