I'm curious as to the number of our illustrious membership and honored visitors who were affected by Firefox's certificate expiration which resulted in the disabling of numerous add-ons today. The problem commenced at 0000 hrs. GMT and was patched here in the American Midwest at ~ 2000. The problem was world-wide and made browsing potentially dangerous, since many anti-virus, script protection, and ad-blocker software was rendered ineffective in the Mozilla product. Were you affected?

Yes, I have been affected.. Still not fixed here for me yet either! 
The fix was supposed to work via studies. I checked the box to let Firefox install studies but nothing happens. When I go back to the page later it has unchecked itself so no wonder it won't work!
My work around for now was to download the Firefox Nightly version which has the addons working.

There is a quick fix while you wait for the update.
All the add-ons will now work again.
- Go to about:config and accept the warning.
- Find xpinstall.signatures.required
- Toggle it from TRUE to FALSE
All the add-ons will now work again.

Thanks for trying to help! I tried that.. Mine was already on false! I changed it to True and then back to false.. doesn't seem to have changed anything though. No addons have appeared. I also tried another fix App Normandy interval from 21600 to 100 and restarted Firefox but no change there either. Also tried new download and reinstall but no joy.

If you have the regular build (not the nightly/dev one) then the xpinstall.signatures.required set to false doesn't fix this. But I got all of my add-ons back by going to about:debugging. Check the box to enable add-on debugging. Then click Load Temporary Add-On. Browse to your Firefox profile in appdata:
In the extensions folder there are .xpi files, those are your extensions that you had. Load each one and don't close Firefox until they fix this.

Hello Terry, I have tried both of your suggestions but somehow or other both Ghostery and AD Block plus have been deleted from my download file.
I have tried re-downloading both but Firefox refuses to let me ... I am NOT happy.

Mozilla has rolled-out a fix for this. The fix will be automatically applied in the background within the next few hours, you don’t need to take active steps.In order to be able to provide this fix on short notice, they are using the Studies system. You can check if you have studies enabled
No doubt "We will see" but I am not going to hold my breath!!!
- Go to > Options > Privacy & Security.
- Make sure Allow Firefox to install and run studies is check marked.

The fix update from Mozilla has arrived and installed itself on my computer.

I have removed all the temporary changes I made to about;config/debugging & studies and everything appears to be working normally now.

They may well fix things before I find the App Data files!

Well hush my mouth, the fix suddenly appeared and I am back to normal, well the computer I mean

All most curious. I've been using the current version of Firefox before and right through this thread without any hint of the reported problems. Perhaps both the problem and the fix took place while I was sleeping down here in AUS... If so, that's rather fortunate by the look of it.
