Installing Internet Explorer upgrade

When I got this computer, it was set up by the then employer's IT dept, and I was never informed of the Administrative password. The IT department and company have long passed away and to install the updated IE version, I need to find out the Administrative Password.

Any ideas on how I can do that, bearing in mind that Norton 360 will probably object? Or is it time to buy a new machine, bearing in mind that this one is approaching 5 years old and has a slightly knackered keyboard?

In that case, I suppose that I will be stuck Windows 10?

You can use a utility such as this Offline Windows Password & Registry Editor to set the administrator password to "blank".

I have used it many times over the years, it works on all versions of Windows desktop OS up to Win 7 (not tried it on 10). Server OS should also work, but the problem is mainly having the right driver for the boot disk controller.

By ignoring 'Home and small business" option on the Dell website I went to the next one up, just "Business", possibly, and there, by speaking to the sales staff, I was able to insist on W7, they send the machine loaded with W7 and the disc for an optional upgrade to W10. Also plenty of quality, refurbished ex lease machines out there that will have W7 on them, not all the business world took kindly to W10!

I needed to turn off Symantec and couldn't. But amazingly, the problem only occurred when using the hotel WiFi in Geneva and not the ITU WiFi and there's no problem at home. Getting to the stage where I guess the computer needs replacing anyway......
So thanks for the help....
