Best adhesive for laptop repair

I have a black Dell Inspiron15 lapto there is a crack in the casing just above where the DVD holder is. I am in the process of changing the DVD holder, so it is out at the moment, so it seems the idea time to make the repair.

I know certain adhesives are better suited to certain plastics. I have considered superglue, but are there ana better alternatives, for example epoxy.

I would appreciate any suggerstions including trade names.

I've always used rapid epoxy for this. I roughen the area, apply epoxy then a strip of material (I use bandage) with more epoxy on top. Reinforces the area quite well.

I have found "I can't believe it's not nails" is excellent for this type of repair. A small clamp for 24 hours may be needed if the plastic tends to spring apart.

I've used a hot glue gun, but of course you have to make sure the parts you are sticking together are not going to distort or melt under the temperature of the hot glue itself.

Re "I can't believe it's not nails", as with other brands it's available as a solvent-based version and a non-solvent-based version. For a Dell case, you should use a solvent-based adhesive since the non-solvent-based version requires one surface to be porous.

On my own ABS case I used a liquid methyl ethyl ketone, which I simply brushed on and let it wick into the cracks around the USB ports. It seems to have worked fine.

Having said all that, a cheap UHU general-purpose would do the job just fine.
