Photoshop for free?
When I purchased my Nikon some years ago, I was allowed a reduced copy of Photoshop. I rarely use it, but would like a simple copy that's legal and free. Is there a starter type copy that's fully legal?
If not, a open sauce type would be fine.

LR - depends what you want to use it for. Basic editing, Irfanview is good and free. For Photoshop type functionality, GIMP will give you more than you probably need, but is Open Source and free. Lots of other commercial programs available but, since I use Lightroom and Photoshop, I can't say much about them. Adobe do sell Photoshop Elements (£55) which is a simpler version.
Andytug - Adobe have made their (now very old) CS2 products available and they are essentially free. Due to "technical difficulties" Registration has been disabled and serial numbers are provided.

You will need an Adobe account (free) to download. These are anything up to seven years old and were designed for Windows XP so no guarantee that they will work properly on later versions. There are also MacOS versions but they are for Power PC versions only.
Could be worth a try.

I've downloaded CS2. They remembered my email and soon got a new password and indeed, Key.
However, there were some warnings that it may not run on modern systems.
If it's okay on W7 there's a fair chance it will run, but would rather know before cluttering my SSD. I didn't want to install it on the HD as speed is of the essence I'd imagine.
Anyone with it on W10?

I cannot comment on how this will run under current Windows versions but you should not hesitate to install it on a regular HD. I used to run CS2 (or perhaps a slightly older version) on an old Toshiba laptop with a Pentium I processor and that worked just fine. With Photoshop, I think it is more the location and size of your scratch disk (temporary files) that determine speed but even without using a SSD for this purpose, current components should easily cope with its requirements I expect.

I haven't spent much time on it yet but it seems to be running well. Thanks, chaps.
I'm a little concerned - it seems too good to be true for free, so expecting it to explode or bill me for a zillion $$$$. Computing makes one like that these days.
Anyway, this is what's showing. CS2 Ver 9.0 I've registered it.

A friend who is a digital photography buff (pro capability although not a pro) put me on to FastStone Image Viewer for instant, fast, effective and intuitive editing and manipulation of digital image files, and I haven't looked back since downloading it. It's a free download, too. FastStone Image Viewer, Screen Capture, Photo Resizer ...

The best thing about Photoshop (Photoshop Elements... TWO!! would you believe) which I have not found with any other program is the ability to crop and set the DPI at the same time/single action. I'll now try an "upgrade" to CS2!
Update: Upgrade complete! Had to photograph the screen for the serial number.
Thanks for the head's up, guys.
