Embedded video problem
Of late, embedded YouTube videoclips don't play using IE11, even though it's fully updated. All I see is a white area with a single vertical black bar.
I also have the the latest version of Flashplayer for Win7.
However, they do play using Firefox.....

Just one of the many mysteries of late is trying to play bits of 'Headlines' video or sometimes Y-Tube. I just get a black screen.
If I have time, I go into FF Tools/Add-ons/plugins and turn off some of the video related things. Then the screen shows - for a while. I then enable the plugins and the whole cycle starts again - but not right away.
I'm not sure if all this started with W10. About then is all I can say, but despite a few issues, years with W7 saw my four computers just work. Day in day out, they would work, and while I deem this last era an investment in catching up with modern computing, sometimes I feel like binning the lot and just have a big jar of pencils like Jeffrey Archer.

Thee point is that it only seems to happen with embedded clips. Nothing to do with W10 or YouTube and it has only started happening in the last few days. Doesn't work with Google Chrome either so not just an IE11 problem. Weird
Using Windows 7 and IE11.

Hmm - I see that there was a 'Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 (KB3175443)' which installed on 9 Aug.
I wonder whether that's the culprit?

Black Bar Woes
iMac OS X El Capitan, v 10.11.6 w/Safari v 9.1.2 ... and, as others have noted, only started happening in the last few days.
iPad, however, displays OK ... IOS 9.3.4 w/Safari
All checked and fully up to date.

Ref my #5, have also just tried my surface Pro 3 tablet with Win10 and both Edge & Chrome - same black bar. Oddly with Safari on my iPad Mini, neither the video not the black bar appear - just an empty post...

For me ... OK on iPad, Black Bar on Mac. And "Miaow"
BTW, should I start a new Thread about why PPRuNe keeps defaulting to that AWFUL mobile option when I'm not looking?

Geordie_Expat, pussycats when viewed with Firefox 48.0, black bar when viewed with IE11....
The 'mobile default' is, I think, an Immac thing.
PPRuNe was so much better before all these wretched adverts ruined it...
Then 'They' refused to continue the 'NoAds style'....
