Previewing Documents in MS Word XP
With thanks to ppruner "Roger That", I now have a 157 page document with all the pages numbered in sections - almost ready to print.
Now I need to check that the pages - and, more importantly, the blank pages in between - are in the correct sequence for easy reading.
Print Preview!! I see two pages at a time. Odd numbered page on the left, even numbered page on the right.
What my brain needs to see is page ONE, on its own, on the right - then with a mouse click move to page two and three...with even numbered page on left and odd numbered page on right.
A book doesn't start with page one on the left - it starts on the right. That's how I need to see it. Any takers??

On the Insert menu, click Page Numbers.
In the Position box, specify whether to print page numbers in the header at the top of the page or in the footer at the bottom of the page.
In the Alignment box, specify whether to align page numbers left, center, or right relative to the left and right margins, or inside or outside relative to the inside and outside edges of pages that will be bound.
If you don't want a number on the first page, clear the Show number on first page check box.
Select any other options you want.

Thinking laterally...
Insert a blank page at the start of your document.
Set your Page number to start at zero. That way the "first" page is 1.
Then print preview will be in the format that you want it.
Also in edit mode (if your screen is big enough) set the view to two pages and you will be able to add blank pages (Cntl-Enter for a page break) where ever you want...I assume so that each chapter starts on the right.
