Thumbs up IOMEGA CD-RW drives and win XP

Just a note for all who may of may not know this soluition already to this very annoying problem.

If you had an IOMEGA drive and was using it with win95/98/me you'll probably have been using the software that came with it (can't even remember the name of it now but it was made with ROXIO and pic of Jap guy holding CD popped up when it started)

Anyone trying to use this very easy to use software with their TOSH Laptop (my problem - but gather it is not only limited to TOSH laptops) will find that XP disables the drivers that come with the IOMEGA software when you install it - then it disables your CD-RW drive too!!!! Nobody could solve this problem after the software was installed - not TOSH/IOMEGA/ROXIO/MS - NOBODY!!! We removed the programme/drivers/everything!! Nothing worked.

So last night took the big step to just recover the whole thing and start from scratch again. Managed to get the CD-RW so copy my programmes and pics onto disk - but would just not do the mp3's in data or music form.

WELL after started reinstalling everything - EXCEPT THE OLD IOMEGA SOFTWARE!! - just plugged in the CD-RW drive and XP just recognises it now and it works fine with HOTBURN (IOMEGA's recommended product to use with XP now).

Hope this helps anyone with the same problem as it's been buggin me for 5 months.

CHEERS ALL!!!

I had the same problem. Roxio produced FOUR sets of drivers - all for XP - two upgrades and two migration progs. All worked first go, and my Zip drive was back to normal.

Thumbs up

Sure I tried them too - but once I'd installed the old software damn comp was having none of it - even after I'd supposidly uninstalled it all - it still insisted in not recognising the drive and disabling the drivers.

Maybe just my laptop, I wish that solution had worked for me - hell of a lot easier than what I've had to do.

Good luck to all - and happy burning!!!
