Lollipop

Browsing around Play Store I found an app to get my old Jelly Bean tablet up to KitKat so as to match my new tablet.

The Larus app immediately offered me Lollipop, free trial and 89p to buy.

I tried and everything works ok, so I bought and now I'm grinning from ear to ear.

Eh, no. You haven't got KitKat or Lollipop. What you've got is a launcher that has re-skinned your Jelly Bean. Your tablet is still running Jelly Bean.

Having your jelly bean re-skinned by a backend service sounds awfully painful.

Are these terms euphemisms for something?

I kept the new KitKat (with Lollipop skin) and sold the old Jelly Bean (with mfr reset) to a High Street store.

Yes, only skin, looks nice, though.

Why do Android have such childish names for their software? At least OS have a more 'grown up' approach when naming theirs!
