Lightbulb Spooky !!!

I thought at first that I was imagining things.
My computer would come on by itself after I had shut it down - but not turned the power off , ridiculous I thought - I've put it on and not realised!!
Until tonight when I was messing around with my mobile phone and phoned myself on my land line - lo and behold my computer booted up all by itself....
I did it three seperate times just to make sure, shut it down and powered it up by phoning myself ?????????
It seems to be my home phone that starts it up !
Why ??????
At least I now know to always make sure the power to my 'puter is off
I have an Intel pentium 4, gigabyte. External modem.

You must (could?) have "wake on modem ring" (wom), in your cmos/bois, enabled.

see http://www.aopen.com/tech/techinside/wom.htm

for a very basic explanation.

Cheers,
