Links not working.

Just recently for me, links on PPRune are not working. They seem to direct to apicdn.viglink.com and go no further. I remembered a posting along these lines and have done a search here. I found the postings but frankly I didn't understand the 'fix'.

Windows 7, Firefox 28.0. Cheers!

Hmm, should have said not every link.

In the previous thread on this, nothing much was resolved, but Saab Dastard opined it was something to do with vigilink misdirecting. Sometimes...

Links do always work if you right click and 'open in a new window'. (I think)

Thanks for replies, I did wonder whether it's a virus.

A link that doesn't work for me is on post 1 on the Banksy thread in JB. I did try right clicking and open in a new window but it didn't work. No real sweat really, just went to the site direct. Curious if that link works for some people and not for others.

As Keef says, I get by...just an annoyance.

Can you copy the link location and paste it here using the Code (#) tags?

SD, as is usual in circumstances like this, the link worked perfectly. Straight to the article, so no, unable to post link location....Ta!

Just right click the link, "Copy Link Location" and paste.

SD, what I mean is, is that the original posted link didn't work for me (the one to the Banksy Mail article) and next time it did, so I couldn't copy and paste the address with viglink in it as you suggested I do.

However, after your post, I thought I would try again and this time it did get hung up with the viglink bit.

I copied the address:

Code:
http://apicdn.viglink.com/api/click?format=go&key=1e857e7500cdd32403f752206c297a3d&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pprune.org%2Fjet-blast%2F537895-one-banksys-best-pieces-art-yet.html&out=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailymail.co.uk%2Fnews%2Farticle-2603782%2FBanksy-art-work-showing-government-agents-spying-phone-box-appears-Cheltenham-house-near-GCHQ.html&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pprune.org%2Fjet-blast-16%2F

So not only does the viglink appear, but there's %2F escape codes instead of the / symbol, which your browser may be choking on.

What error message do you get?

SD, I can't recall an error message, just got an endless 'connecting' message in the browser tab and I gave up. To be honest, it happens rarely so it's not really a bother but I can understand you wanting to know whats going on.

If it happens again I'll watch out for any message and post here. Not sure that there is any more I can do. Thanks for your interest, cheers.
