Java update

I keep getting nagged to install Java 7.

Is it worthwhile?

YES

Unless :

(a) You have no need for Java. In which case, uninstall it.
(b) You know you have some app that relies on a specific version of Java, in which case, use that (or update/change your app).

Reason for asking is that I'm not at all sure I have anything that uses Java and ISTR advice not to update it unless it's vital.

Suitable option might be to disable it in your browser.... see if you notice any issues after a week and then uninstall it.

(If you've got Adobe CS Suite installed, then I believe Illustrator needs Java somewhere, although I'd be surprised if Adobe don't just bundle Java with it).
