Odd Acrobat problem

When trying to open pdf files from the interweb the memsahib often gets a blank screen with a blue box what says Adobe Acrobat on the top, has a large blue question mark inside the box and an 'OK' button that does nothing at all. She is running IE11, I can go to the same sites and open the files without any problems with my trusty old IE9.
This is really annoying 'cos she is trying to download some new recepies what sound wonderful.
Anyone seen this before and know how to fix?
I suppose I could force her back to IE9, or load Adobe Reader in place of her Acrbat 9.

Not something I've seen but that won't stop me offering a thought.....

Is your good lady using Win 7 or 8.1? If 7 I'm thinking uninstall and reinstall the Acrobat software.

Try using Foxit instead.

PDF Reader | PDF Viewer | Foxit Reader

Were both on W7.
I will give the Firefoxy a go and see what happens.
Quick update - just tried Firefox and everything is OK. Looks like an IE11 / Acrobat problem.

Acrobat 9 is a bit old and might not be compatible with the latest IE...?

Yes, it seems to be a case of a problem mixing old & new. Acrobat only gets updated if you buy another version, IE updates seem to get stuffed down yer throat whether you need them or not.
