Cannot find local Profile.
This message appeared when I started to boot the computer.
"Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible
causes of this error include insufficient security rights
or a corrupt local profile. if this problem persists,
contact network administrator"
It then started to set up a temporary Local Profile stopped when it was setting the e-mail profile.I rebooted the computer and kept pressing the F8 key.and when the start in Xp appeared hit enter and the computer booted up as normal.I have booted up twice since and everything is working. Is this a one off which sometimes happens with windows or is it telling me something nasty is about to happen?

essentially, something happened which prevented the machine from loading the registry keys which make up your personal profile
on the reboot it recovered from this and loaded up from a backup copy.
the big question is, why did this happen? Commonest reasons for a registry failing to load properly are
faulty / loose RAM memory
hard drive corruption (e.g following bad shutdown)
failing hard drive
virus / trojan / rootkit
so, reseat / check the RAM
run chkdsk C: /r from a command prompt to scan the drive for errors
update your security software, do a full scan and also scan with Hitman Pro and Combofix
on the reboot it recovered from this and loaded up from a backup copy.
