Teaching moving from paper to IT

I am involved with a business that runs training courses - where students sit in front of a computer(in room by themselves -not classroom) and do questions , some require "worked solutions" mainly mathematical type stuff. Not splitting atoms but may require 6 to ten lines of working etc.

I am looking to try to move away from any paper , pen and working etc.

So it is probably a pretty open question really, what is a good PC/IT solution for this kind of problem. It seems easier to motivate younger people also if the whole training package can be an IT type set up rather than having to pull out the dreaded paper and pen

The questions are just in standard pp file etc.
