Telnet to router
I would like to telnet to my cheap and nasty Tenda 150 modem/router to get a few more line stats than it offers via the CP. Username admin but all known passwords rejected. Anyone know?

The default password is also admin, but I suspect you knew that already. There's always the PITA method of the 'restore factory settings' button

Yes, tried that, but this password is not the same as the p/w for the router cp (which works fine) and I have never changed the telnet p/w! I think I read somewhere that some routers do not allow telnet access?

If you telnet to the IP address of the router and get a blank page, rather than a login prompt, the chances are that your router doesn't support it or it's not enabled.

To clarify -
1) Router uses a Broadcom 96328 chip
2) I need the default ie 'factory' password if anyone knows. 'sh' was suggested but does not work and nor does admin.

Hmmmm the info I found seem to suggest they were all the same family.
Have a look here then, you might find something useful but it's well above my current geek level

If you can't telnet to it and the CP doesn't do it, it may be that a different router would be a nifty idea. I've got lots of them in a large box in the workshop - want me to fish one out?

Keef - that's very kind, but no thanks. Routers are pretty cheap anyway these days. I will just live without the info. until I change the router again.

Well, the firewall settings on my hacked BT router have a box to allow/disable telnet. So it shows it will support telnet and that I've allowed it. Is there anything in the firewall settings similar to this ?
