moving bars
is it possible to drag the menu bar (=the several tabs of Google Chrome) down close to the taskbar? To the bottom of the screen, that is. Got lots of 'navigating' between documents and different tabs and probably there has to be a more economical way than cursor-surfing all across the screen every time?

No, it's not possible. Maybe you could learn some keyboard shortcuts to move focus between tabs and between applications. A lot of the Chrome shortcuts are the same as for IE.
