Can't post!
Posting this on SWMBO's machine. Have tried several times to add to threads from my machine but all I get is a continuous "connecting" and no progress ... any thoughts anyone, please?

Yup, OFSO couldn't post to JB yesterday evening (1800z-2200z), also the old "can't copy and paste" problem was back and so was the "can't reply" problem. Seems alright today if a teensy-weensy bit slow.

symptoms I got were simply a blank screen with the message "site unavailable"
I'd guess at a swamped server. DDOS attack maybe?
Of had someone scrambled the DNS settings? A poisoned DNS server somewhere could do it

Milo,
I believe that your first surmise was not too far from the truth.
There were other issues of a purely local nature as well to compound the problem

If writing a longish piece, I often find that when I go to 'submit' I get a blank screen with a message that I have 'timed out' or some such, and yesterday I found that, as described above, the little hourglass thing just went around and around, and after about 15 mins. I got the timed out 'gotcha', and when I re-signed in all my careful composition had gone forever Grrrr!!
In that situation next time, I'll highlight and copy, and if I have to start again at least I can paste my work into the new blank page. Maybe.

Looks like the servers overloaded
Stats showing 3500 people online at present
If someone is trying another DDOS attack it wouldn't take much to push it over the edge. Just reload the page - it'll pop up eventually

I'm seeing the (same?) problem, and I've reported it.
