ADS-B Message Formats

Is the information on the format of the message block in ADS-B messages only available in the RTCA DO-260A or the EUROCAE ED-102 documents? These documents are quite expensive, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a freely available source of the information I am looking for.

Cheers

Did you find this Eurocontrol page or this on your Google ?

To be honest I'd suggest spending the money if you are developing a commercial product rather than searching around for second-hand heresey or a copyright infringing copy.

I hadn't realised that Eurocontrol documents had attained the status of Holy Writ

I did find the Eurocontrol one, but not the latter, which looks more interesting, many thanks for that. I shall take a look at that after lunch.

The Eurocontrol had some useful information, but didn't appear to provide enough information to actually decode a received message.

I am not sure what you want to do with it, but if you want to be future proof I suggest you look into EUROCAE ED102A /RTCA Do-260B. These are the MOPS documents that for the basis for transponders compliant with both the European and US ADS-B implementing rules.
