Replacing IE9 with IE8 - Possible?

Just wondering if it is possible to replace IE9 with IE8 without having to format the hard drive please? Only had one attempt so far, got the message that the programme loaded was newer than what I was trying to load.

Suggestions and/or help much appreciated.

I presume that you've gone through How do I install or uninstall Internet Explorer 9? ?

Especially the bit at the end - How to uninstall or remove Internet Explorer 9 when the standard uninstallation process does not work

Thanks for the tip on how to remove IE9 and revert back to IE8. All was great for a week then MS pushed IE9 down again..! So if you remove it you may get it loaded by MS without your knowledge...!!

It depends on how you configure Windows Updates. I prefer to be alerted about available updates, but to then select which to download and install.

If you allow Windows to completely Auto-update, you will suffer!

Many thanks, I shall check both the PC's, another obvious advantage is that a notification saves those mega downloads from MS while you are on line.
